1) What is Chen Style Tai Chi
Tai Chi (Taiji) is a set of moving meditation exercise; it is incorporate slow, fluid movements with rhythmic breathing pattern and designed to put human being in harmony with nature. There are five main styles in China today. They are Chen, Yang Wú, Shun and Wŭ. Chen style tai chi is the oldest tai chi. It is the origin of all modern tai chi. Chen Style Tai Chi was created by a garrison commander CHEN Wangting, the ninth generation of Chen Family in Chen Village, Henan Province, China in seventeen century. The creation of Chen style tai chi is based on the theory of Ying and Yang, combing the traditional Chinese medicine theory Jinluo theory, Qi Gong Methods (Daoyin and Tuina) and some effective martial art techniques.
Chen Style Tai Chi still keep the characteristics of Yin Yang transaction, for example, hardness and softness moving in harmony, equaling stress and quickness and slowness, jumping and leaping, relaxing and nimble, springing and shaking.
Another significant character of Chen style tai chi is that it has distinctive value of improving health and actual combat technique. In the martial art side, it highlights the combination of attack and defense skills. In the health side, Chen style tai chi suitable for different ages and different fitness level to practice. It is a whole life cycle exercise.
